As you may or may not be aware I have a background in the search industry before I was corrupted by AdultBusiness and joined the wonderful and sexy world of the adult and porn industry.

So I thought for a change I would do a blog post on whats new in the world of SEO and may even throw in a few tips and tools here and there for your benefit.

So whilst looking for some interesting new features and tools that have been added to google recently I discovered within Googlelabs a great feature known as Similar Images which uses a picture rather than a piece of text to find other matching images.

Google said that in the present economic climate they feel this innovative approach makes complete sense.

“We are not especially sure where the industry is headed or the economy is headed but we do know that innovation is alive and well at Google,” said Mr Pittman.

“This is a time when innovation is at its most critical in any company.”

“Hard problem”

Google is the leader in search with nearly 64% of the American market compared with Yahoo, which has just over 20% and Microsoft with 8.3%

By adding new features to enrich the a users experience, it is undoubtedly hoping to increase its grip on the world of search.

“Image search is an inherently hard problem to solve because it is a visual problem and explains why people say an image is worth a thousand words because it is so difficult to describe,” said Ms Malpani.

She said Google’s goal was to “cover all the public images of the world and make all the images accessible to all our users”.

Out of all the work being done at Google, the company decided to unveil two projects that are closely aligned to a growing shift in the world of search.

They are reflective of what Google started doing with universal search,it shows they are pushing beyond text into other areas and other ways to their content. The approach is much more about multi-media, different views and different ways to navigate through search data.

Google’s Mr Pittman also said that the traditional method remained the bedrock of search of googles search.

“Keyword search is still critical and mainstream. It is also pivotal because it is a very efficient mechanism where someone asks a question and they get an answer that is relevant and useful. I don’t see that going away.

“These newer approaches are starting to tap into the appetite of the real-time web. These audiences are discovering new ways to search the web and get information and sound bites. These are early days for us and that’s why we launched these new products.

“We make no claims about how they are going to change the face or shape of search but we think they have very compelling potential to do so. But we will let our users give us some feedback first and help us steer these in the right direction,” stated Mr Pittman.

So what else has the google monsters been upto ?

Well another little known google search feature is also within the google labs department is the new Google Audio Indexing tool that allows search what people are saying inside YouTube videos. Google Audio Indexing uses speech technology to find spoken words inside videos and lets you jump to the right portion of the video where these words are spoken.

On top of these features is a new version of Google Labs, in which users can take a peek at its engineers and see what its thousands of engineers are working on.

Well, a few months back I was chatting to another newbie dating webmaster, asking silly questions most of the time and generally wanting their hand held, now this is not a problem and to be honest we are happy to talk to all our affiliates and have an affiliate manager on hand if they need.So I was thinking there’s got to be lots of webmasters in the same boat, looking to promote our dating and contacts sites.

So what’s the best way to promote a site or even the best site to promote? I have affiliates that have done TGPs, Premium Tours, live chats and free community and much more. But were never able to convert much and they never knew how to drive traffic into their affiliate sites and links etc.

Then they stumble upon BritishSexContacts. Many of you may know about it. It’s where you start your own dating website, using your own domain name. The dating database and site is provided by the Affiliate Company (adultbusiness) and you start out with some thousands and thousands of members from the start. The BritishSexContacts affiliate site enables you to create your own profit making dating or adult contacts web site they provide member support and everything a dating website needs. You just need to drive traffic into your own website and see checks coming in. The important part is, that your links don’t look spammy now when you promote it because you simply promote your domain name saying something like “hey check out britishsexcontacts.co.uk” (just some random example). When someone signs up and purchases credit, you get upto 75% of it. This way you can be sure of huge conversion rate. On top of that BritishSexContacts program allows you to link direct to a profile for promotional campaigns and so, you can gain a very high level of conversion if you stay creative.

Ok, now how to do it?

• Sign up for BritishSexContacts,.
• Buy a keyword domain (will explain it later) and made a BSC BritishSexContacts site on it.
• Then make at least 10 blogger blogs for promoting one dating site using relevant keywords.
• Then start adding short keyword rich articles into blogs and put the dating profiles from sites in between the blog posts.
• Get articles ranking damn well and start enjoying seeing huge traffic now.
• Also good to use Yahoo Answers, Banner Exchanges and link building for promotional means.

Now how to select a keyword:

• Well, use google trends or wordtracker and keyworddiscovery tools.
• First type in a basic keyword into it and search. Obviously it will have high competition.
• Now you will get a list of keywords. Open up another keyworddiscovery tool page and type in the second keyword (from the first result page). Check the competition of some low lying keywords by searching these keywords on google. Use “allintitle:keywords” format when you do your research. You should choose those keywords which have minimum allintitle results in google.
• Now, use this keyword to make a blogspot blog.
• Now open up another keyworddiscovery tool and type in the keyword you have made a blogger blog with. Search it and you will get a list of low searched, very low competitive keywords set. Target each of these keywords with one small article each and you should see the result pretty fast. Don’t forget to link back to profiles from your own dating site in between the posts.

Also, about the Yahoo Answer technique. Some people may think this as a blackhat but I think it’s ok because you are providing some good service to those who are searching. Now, the “How” part! Best thing to do is to search for dating related recent questions in yahoo answers and provide them with your dating website link or a link to one of your blog posts whichever you feel appropriate. You can be a bit creative on this and get some really converting traffic. I have seen this done and I know this traffic does convert for dating. And I can tell you some yahoo answer pages rank very well for some very good long tail dating dating keywords. You just need to dig a little bit on keywords, that all.

Hacking the Facebook Profile Photo

There isn’t a legal way to ‘hack’ Facebook, but there is a method to changing your profile photo to make your profile look subtly different and cooler. It isn’t obvious, but the placement of a profile photo allows you to lightly innovate on Facebook’s sacred profile layout.

How Does It Work?

When you create a profile photo from an existing album image, Facebook lets you crop the photo down to whatever dimensions you choose. When you visit your profile the selected photo is displayed scaled down to a maximum height and width allowed by Facebook.

The first thing you need to understand is how much space you have to play with. Facebook displays profile photos at a maximum of 200 pixels in width. If you go beyond this, Facebook resizes your profile photo down to 200 while maintaining the aspect ratio vertically. Facebook will display a photo in your profile that is up to 600 pixels in height. This means that Facebook will happily display any image as large as 200 x 600 without otherwise changing or resizing it.

Now that you know the maximum dimensions of your profile photo, the base trick is simple. Facebook is set up to display the top of an image 52 pixels north of the thin grey line. Normally, all profile photos are placed at this height above the line.

In order to achieve an unbroken line across your profile you need only create an image with a grey (#D8DFEA) 52 pixels below the top. In addition, you’ll need to paintbucket the area above the line to match the light blue (#EFF0F5) used in the profile header.

Subbing this blank template allows you to achieve something Facebook normally does not allow: the option to not display a profile photo at all. A new Facebook account with no profile photo displays a box with a drawing of a mystery person with soft-serve icecream hair on it. Using a blank lined template allows you to add a little ‘negative’ space to your profile that is normally not possible.

So what else has been in the news ?

Well one of my favorite porn stars Bree Olson has been on alot of blogs due to a rather unfortunate incident on the Bubba the “Love Sponge” radio program on Monday.

Bree Olson took to her MySpace.com blog today to explain her side of the story.

“Blogs lit up with video footage of a clearly irate Olson after she left the Sirius satellite radio show and demanded the tape that one of Bubba’s underlings was filming of her as she walked away on the street outside.

Here’s how the drama began.

Olson explains that two weeks prior to appearing on the shock jock’s radio program that she had agreed to give a blind fan of Bubba’s a hand job on the air. However, when Olson arrived, she smelled something fishy about the whole arrangement — namely that she was suspicious the listener named Pantera was not blind.

Olson’s suspicion unfolded after she and Pantera went to the green room to talk. Olson started quizzing the man about his blindness and after he couldn’t name his exact medical condition, Olson became emotional, recognizing that she had been duped.

“At this point I start to become upset,” Olson wrote. “They have me take pictures with this man and as I’m taking pictures I can barely hold back the tears in my eyes.

“I decide to go outside away from everyone because I do not want them to see me crying. I was so torn and confused about what was going on and I had an office full of people that didn’t have my back. I thought that if I went through with this hand job that they would surely throw out the ‘tricked the dumb porn girl card.’ The only thing that made sense to me then and still makes sense to me now of why they would do that to me is this: they trick me into thinking this man is blind, I give him a hand job and then they make fun of me the last half of the show of what a dumb whore I am.”

Olson decided she had been played for a fool and left the studio. At this point, one of Bubba’s cameramen chased her outside with a camera trying to provoke Olson while she was gathering herself.

“I just wanted to have a moment by myself and get the tears out of my system,” Olson said. “I wasn’t allowed that alone time though. The cameras kept on following me and watching every painful tear I shed. My sadness quickly turned to anger. In my head I am thinking, ‘What kind of sick fucks want to watch a 22 year old girl cry? I wasn’t bothering anyone. I wasn’t even talking, I just had tears rolling down my face.

“I grabbed the camera and held on to it insisting to have the tape that has 10 minutes of footage of me crying on it. I didn’t touch the cameraman; I just took hold of the camera and said to give me the tape.”

Despite Olson’s request for the footage, it was leaked onto the Internet, which prompted Olson’s blog to clear the air about what really happened.
